Feeling so very tired after the last three days at work but I’m also feeling positive that things are returning to some variation of normal. My symptoms are still present and, although they haven’t improved much since I left the hospital, they haven’t gotten any worse. I feel things are manageable at the moment but I’m keeping a very close eye on what my body is doing and how it’s reaction to food as well as my medications.
I’ve got one more day at work before I get a day off but if it’s anything like today was, I’ll be ok. I’m planning on sleeping most of Sunday so I’m ready for next week.

First full day at work yesterday went really well; I felt fine during the day, didn’t get stressed out and, although I was tired when I got home, I still had enough spoons to make an easy dinner of mini pizzas and cheese hot dog bites for me, my fiance and a friend. We even played D&D fifth edition which was my friends first ever play. It was really fun and I can’t wait for the next session. I’m ready to take on day two.

Day five of five working in a row tomorrow. It’s only a short day so it shouldn’t be too bad. I’m already quite tired from working the last four days though, and I won’t get much of a lay in tomorrow morning because there are railworks and I have to leave early to get a replacement bus into work. At least I’ll have two days off after to recover before going back to full-time hours on Wednesday.

Day #1 back at work

I went back to work today, but only for the afternoon because the hospital recommended a phased return to work instead of going straight back into full days. It was tiring, even though we weren’t busy, but I feel ok. My legs ache from standing a lot but my stomach/gut have behaved themselves, mostly.

I’m looking forward to having a friend round for dinner this evening; I’m going to attempt stir-fried mango chicken with noodles.

First day back at work today after three weeks off. I’m both looking forward to it but also anxious incase it’s too much too soon. I’m only doing a half day so hopefully shouldn’t be too stressful. Wish me luck!

Just an update

The work issue has been solved. I spoke to my team leader and he offered to talk to my colleague for me. He had a chat before she started her shift and apparently, she was very apologetic. I didn’t need her to apologise to me so my TL told her to just draw a line under it and make sure she doesn’t do it again. This has made working with her less daunting so I’m happy.

In other news, I’m being good today. I’ve had gluten-free cereal, grapes, tea and gluten-free savoury rice cake snacks for lunch. My stomach has cramped it’s way through most of this morning but I hope the gentle food stops it from hurting too much this afternoon. I’m not sure what I’ll eat for dinner but I’ll try and stick with the few safe foods I have at the moment. Chicken maybe? Possible with rice or noodles. I haven’t tried steamed vegetables in a while so maybe that with a little grated cheese on top. We’ll see.

Good week so far

So work wasn’t too bad this week so far; I found that applying heat to my cramping stomach helps it relax and, therefore, stop hurting. My manager, who gets cold very easily, uses adhesive heat pads on her stomach so she gave me one which meant I felt perfectly fine all day yesterday. I’m getting myself some heat pads as they will be great for the winter as well as my stomach cramps.
My upped dose of mercaptapurine seems to be working somewhat, and the colesevelam seems to be doing its job as well. I’m not entirely out of the woods but I do feel a little better in myself. Oh, and I finally got my cholecalciferol which I started yesterday so fingers crossed my hair will stop falling out and I won’t feel as tired anymore.
I’m off work today so I’m spending it with my sister and her fiance and we’re going to go bowling this afternoon. This evening we’re going out for a meal because it’s my mums birthday today. She’s unfortunately working all day but I’ll see her at the meal to give her her present. We’re going to TGIFridays; they’ve got a good gluten free menu and decent portions too. Here’s hoping it all goes well.

Need to stick to my flare foods!

I had gluten free cereal with milk and a cup of tea for lunch today and I felt ok. This is proof I need to be stricter with myself and refrain from having “bad” foods. Cereal, tea and soup are the way to go, it seems. No more pizza, take aways, fruit or veg (unless it’s in soup or stew).

In other news, I’m off work for a week after tomorrow so it’ll be a good time to get plenty of sleep/rest. I will be going to the gym at least once but I will take it easy; it’s been a couple of weeks since my last work out and I don’t want to exhaust myself. My sister and her fiance are coming to stay with us for a few days on Thursday so I need to make sure I’m not too tired to socialise.

Work training in Britol

Im in Bristol for work training today and tomorrow. It’s an intense day as well as a long one (left for the train at half six this morning) but I’m just about to have dinner at the hotel then I plan on watching some TV before going to bed.

I’ve had a few stomach cramps today and a rush to the toilet when I finally got off the train. Other than that, I’ve not been too bad. I almost fell asleep after lunch though so maybe an early night might be in order. I’ll try and have a decent breakfast tomorrow so I won’t need to worry too much at lunch or dinner. Depending on when we finish tomorrow, I might see if Yo!Sushi is flare friendly.
