Not a good week…

whatcanieat:

So, this last week’s been kind of interesting; I’ve been on the Azathioprine for almost two weeks now and I’ve noticed I’ve had more cramps and rushes to the bathroom than I did before taking them. Keeping in mind I’m still taking prednisolone (currently five daily) which stopped all symptoms by themselves, I’m a little concerned the Azathioprine isn’t working the way it’s meant to. I know it’s early days yet but I don’t want to be taking something if it’s not working, or worse, stopping something else from working correctly.
I’m trying to be good with my food too, so no spicy or overly seasoned meals, having as little frozen food as possible, not having take aways ect. but I’m still having cramps to the extent I’m taking zapain again. I’m hoping it’ll go down soon as I really want to go back to the gym this Monday and I don’t feel I can if I’m back to having an unpredictable stomach.

What people don’t get about having ulcerative colitis or crohn’s is that it’s not just about pooping or gas. They are autoimmune diseases that cause your colon and/or intestines to actually attack themselves. So, yes I poop more than the average person, but I also sometimes can’t keep food down for a week because of nausea or my colon is so inflamed and I lose so much blood I have to be hospitalized. And some days I can’t leave the house because of pain or the fear of my bowels inflaming. Like some days I can’t even move because the way my entire body feels because of my IBD. But it’s cool, y’all can think it’s about poop and it’s funny.

THANK YOU!!

I must have been hungry

whatcanieat:

I have somehow managed to eat a whole large thin and crispy domino’s pizza, half a garlic pizza bread, some potato wedges and chicken strips for dinner! Finishing it all off with Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food Ice Cream. And I’m still under my calorie count!

Domino’s is the only pizza I can eat now without any negative side effects so this makes me really happy.

Hi, I’m the anon that mentioned a week or so ago that your blog gives me hope. I had my upper and lower scope on Thursday, but now I’m experiencing fecal incontinence.. Is that common? Especially, a few days later?? I’m so done wearing diapers..);

Shoutout to all of my followers: Did you ever experience fecal incontinence after a colonoscopy?

I once experienced it for the first day after a scope probably because of the prep (so I still had super fluid bowel movements which accidentally came out while I passed some gas).

I’d suggest you to call the GI office/hospital you had your scopes and ask them for advise. Maybe you could also try plantago seeds to make your stool more firm.

Keep us updated! Hope it will stop asap.

I was advised to call my GP/Hospital if this happened after my colonoscopy but I didn’t have any issues. I was mostly just hungry after mine but also really tired.

Feeling productive

whatcanieat:

Had a pretty productive day today; had my first weekly blood test this morning which meant I was up early so I could beat the traffic to the hospital and get in and out as quickly as possible; did a quick top-up shop for lunch supplies; made said lunches for both me and my fiancee; cleaned the flat; put away our engagement present from my parents (a new set of cooking pots and pans – about 20+ pieces); and got a few other little personal bits done. And all before 2pm! The problem now is I’m shattered. I’m planning on spending the rest of the day chilling out on my computer. Maybe play some World of Warcraft.

But not too hydrated

whatcanieat:

I’m still using the Plant Nanny app to track the amount of water I’m drinking each day which has been really good up until last week; it reckoned I should be drinking 2400ml of water per day which was fine. However, I have had to bring it down to 2000ml per day as I was getting stomachaches and bloating if I tried to drink that extra 400ml. I also found it was going straight through me and I was in and out of the bathroom all day (more so than usual). The adjusted amount seems to be more manageable so I’m going to see how it goes for the next week. It may very well have to go back up if I go back to the gym but we’ll see.
