Good news!

whatcanieat:

I’m being discharged this evening! I’m looking forward to going home and sleeping in my own bed.
They’re not releasing me any sooner because the doctors don’t want me home alone today. They’re also recommending another week off work to recover.
I’ve got a ton more meds, including another course of prednisolone (ugh). I’m hoping they’ll also give me some fortisip as well to take home so I’ve got that extra bit of nutrition to help ease me back into regular eating.

Monday morning update

whatcanieat:

I didn’t actually sleep any better last night. I think I sort of crashed because I woke up with a headache which usually happens if I don’t sleep right.
The doctor came round as well and said I’m doing much better. They are going to start the infliximab infusion this morning, get me onto oral steroids and, if everything goes well, they’ll be looking at sending me home either today (fingers and toes crossed) or tomorrow. They said they need to monitor me for at least the first half hour but they’ll know if all is ok within three hours of the infusion finishing.
Because I’m on mesalazine, mercaptopurine, steroids and starting infliximab, they’re also going to put me on antibiotics because all my other drugs suppress my immune system a lot so I’m a lot more susceptible to other infections and diseases. I’m going to be rattling again but if it makes me better, I am not complaining.

Night #7

whatcanieat:

Nothing else to report but wanted to say goodnight to all my followers. I should be able to sleep better tonight as Wonderful Fiancee brought in my over-the-ear headphones to help drown out any noise tonight. I’ll update again in the morning once the doctors been round. Time for evening meds then I’m off to sleep.

Update! Sorta…

whatcanieat:

The on-call doctor has been. My inflammation markers have gone from 80 on Tuesday to 4 which is apparently very good. Also, all my other blood results are back and all is ok, so infusion is looking very likely tomorrow. On top of that, it’s sunny outside! It was miserable yesterday so it’s nice to see the sun shining. Hopefully get a nice sunset again tonight.
