I didn’t get to sleep as early as I would have liked last night, but I was in bed by nine, at least. I think I slept ok once I did get to sleep but it was broken; the cough seems to have now developed into a barking one which seems to explode out of me in short bursts. Still, I’m feeling better this morning than I was yesterday morning.
I’m wearing my glasses to work today instead of my contract lenses to give my eyes a rest.
I was a bit negative yesterday so I’m trying for positive vibes today. Just keep smiling.

I’m so glad today is over
The cold has only gotten worse and the doctor said the antibiotics I’m on won’t do anything for it. I’ve got a slowly growing headache and my throat and stomach muscles are soar from all the coughing I’ve been doing today.
I really don’t feel like eating but I will have some soup at least before I go to bed. My parents brought over some homemade apple and banana crumble so I might have a bit of that too.
I still have to work tomorrow but then I’m off for two days so I can sleep in on Sunday. My next infliximab infusion is this Monday morning so I’ll be up early but I can always go back to bed once I get home from it.
I’m finding it hard to stay positive again but I’ll do my best to keep smiling tomorrow. I’m tired of feeling like I’m letting people down.

Second day back
The cold is now in full swing so it looks like the immunosuppressants I’m on are doing what they’re meant to. It’s good because, along with the steroids, they’re keeping my symptoms at bay, but bad because they open me up to every other infection out there. I just hope I can get rid of this one soon so I can feel better about being back at work.
Speaking of which, today was ok but a lot more tiring than yesterday. We had a lot more customers in today despite the weather being quite miserable. It didn’t help there were only two of us in the whole day. Tomorrow should be better as there will be three of us in.
I’m going to try for an early night again tonight as last night I didn’t get to sleep until two in the morning because my cough kept me awake. I’ve found honey and lemon juice mixed with hot water helps soothe it a little so I’ll try that again before bed along with the cough syrup I’ve been taking today too.
Heading home
I had a good first day back. I’m tired but not overly so but I should sleep better tonight.
Work is going to be busier tomorrow though so it might not be as easy as today. Still, if I’m busy, the time will fly by.
Best part? No stomach aches or rushes to the bathroom.
Feeling positive!
First day back at work
I’m on my way into work after more than two weeks off sick. I didn’t sleep all that well last night, so I might be a bit tired come the afternoon, but I’ll do what I can. I’ve got a fortisip with me to have once I get there so I’ll have a little nutritional boost to help me get through the morning, and I’ve got a homemade, gluten-free lunch with me to take my afternoon meds with as well as a bottle of water to keep me going. I’m all set, let’s try and have a good day.
Good day
I had a nice day today; did some cooking, ate some chocolate, met up with a friend who I haven’t seen in ages, and had an all round good food day. Looking forward to going back to work (sort of) so I can get back into a normal routine. I’ll be shattered by the end of it but I’m determined to have a good first day back.
More cooking pictures! This time, gluten-free brownies with dark chocolate chips on top. I haven’t cut them up yet but I’ll do that once they’ve cooled.

Not IBD-related but…
Just finished covering the chocolate truffles. I added butter to the chocolate while it melted on the stove and found it much easier to pour (they melted last time I tried dunking them in it). They’ll chill in the fridge for a few hours and then they’ll be ready.
