I called my stoma nurse today and got an appointment for Monday because the skin around my stoma has been red and soar for the last few days. I hope it’s nothing serious. I really don’t want to have change my bag type (I really like these ones – drainable, one-piece) so hopefully, I just need to use some barrier cream/wipes for a bit.

Ostomy problems! …again.
I had to do another emergency bag change just now due to seepage. I knew it was going to do it because the bag didn’t feel right last night but I didn’t want to waste a bag, I guess, so I left it. No mess, though, it was easy to sort out. I just hope this isn’t going to be a common problem otherwise I might have change bag type and I don’t really want to do that because I like these bags.

I can’t believe this woman can be so cruel to a child!

What the hell, stoma?
TMI warning!
So, I was planning on sleeping in this morning but was forced to get up early in order to do an emergency bag change because somehow, the contents had pancaked and was seeping out under the flange. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me so now I’m paranoid. I think I know what caused it though; I had both curly fries and melon last night (not together) and I know already that potato that isn’t mashed doesn’t digest properly for me (meaning it comes out as partly digested). I’m going to try and drink more today and just keep a close eye on my bag just in case it starts to do it again.
Day 2 of Comic Con
So, today was quite tiring; we did a lot of walking and I think, combined with yesterday, I may have overdone it a little. However, it was worth it. I’ve had a really great time so far and I’m still looking forward to tomorrow.
I still tucked my ostomy bag into my waistband today but I have found that it gets quite hot which made me think I’d had a leak at one point (even though the bag was fresh on this morning). I won’t be cosplaying tomorrow just because I can’t be bothered with it. It’s not like it’s a difficult costume to put on or anything but I just don’t want to wear it tomorrow. It also means I don’t have to tuck baggie in if I don’t want to – the costume somewhat demands it because the top I’ve got is too long and needs tucking in too.
I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures and post as many as I can when I get home on Monday. For some reason, the app doesn’t like me posting pictures.

I made myself a new bag cover. It turned out so much better than I thought it would.
Third check-up
I had my third stoma check-up this morning. The nurse is really happy with how my stoma is looking at the moment; she said the separation her colleague noticed last time is normal and seems to be healing ok so she’s not worried. Next appointment is in three months unless I have any problems.
Also, I only have another week and a bit of steroids then I stop taking them (hopefully for the last time)! I can’t wait because it feels like I’ve been on them forever. They make my stomach and face bloat, both of which have gone down quite a bit now that I’ve tapered to a low dose, and my appetite goes from “meh, food” to “EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!” so it’ll be nice to finally finish them once and for all.
I’m really looking forward to going to London Comic Con next weekend. I’m going to be cosplaying as Misty from Pokemon. I’m still not used to tucking my bag into my waistband but I’m going to give it a try.

Purple for World IBD Awareness Day!
