It’s the weekend!

whatcanieat:

My sister and her fiancée are here for the week and, although I’ll be working most of it, I’ve got the next couple of days off to spend with them. This means probably going out a bit more than usual but I think I’ll be ok; I’ve downloaded an app that uses your GPS to show nearby toilets (public,in restaurants and bars ect). It’s called Toilet Finder and is available on both Android and iPhone. I haven’t used it whilst out and about yet but it did show all the restaurants and available toilet near where I live last night when I tested it so I guess it’s good.

There are others available too but this one seemed to have the best reviews. I found out about it from a website called ibdpassport.com; they have loads of great advice for travelling with ibd so check it out if your interested.

So it’s day four now of being on steroids again and I’m not as bouncy as yesterday. In fact, I’m feeling a little tired. It’s not like I haven’t been sleeping so I’m not sure what’s brit it on. It could be that I’ve been working all this week… maybe.
Also, I can’t tell if the steroids are helping my mezavant work better or not but I guess we’ll see.

Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy…

whatcanieat:

I’ve been a bit more energetic today so I think the steroids are doing what they did last time; making me bouncy for a while but otherwise doing what they are meant to be at the same time. I have only had a few small cramps today so, progress?

It might also be to do with the food I’ve been eating this week; I’ve had ham and cheese in white bread sandwiches, pasta with cheese, chicken pie, ect. Mostly plain and unseasoned.

whatcanieat:

So its day two on the steroids and I’m still not bouncing off the walls so, fingers crossed, this means I’ll be ok given the amount. I’m currently taking eight tablets a day for a week, then it’s down to seven for a week, and I keep going down by one tablet every week until I finish in two months time. Wish me luck; I hope they work as well as they did last time.

Back on ‘em!

whatcanieat:

I took a grand total of eight steroids this morning, and I’m not feeling like I need to bounce off the walls. I guess we’ll see by the end of the week. I’m on them for a further two months and, once my blood test results are back, I start the Azathioprine. I’m continuing on the Mezavant and I’m also taking Adcal-D3 calcium pills as well for the time being.

I’ll be rattling again.

Hospital

whatcanieat:

So I’m back on the prednisolone (steroids) for two months. Also the calcium pills. Imagine my joy.
Also, I’m going to be taking Azathioprine as of next week once they get back the results of my (numerous) blood tests – no kidding, they took no less than 8 tubes of blood. It was a miracle I wasn’t lightheaded after.
Being on Azathioprine does mean I’ll have blood tests every week for six weeks then every fortnight for six weeks. I’m sure I’ll get use to it.

Not much to report…

whatcanieat:

I’ve had a mostly lazy day today; all we did was do some much-needed food shopping, but this time, rather than get what we would usually get (a load of frozen or canned stuff), we got a few different things in an attempt to be a tad bit healthier (more fruit, less/”healthier” frozen foods ect). Other than that, I haven’t done much.

While we’re on the subject of food, I have been using a healthy living app on my phone which allows me to track calories, among other thing, and although I don’t like the idea of counting calories, I still find it useful for me to make sure I’m eating enough which, so far, I’m not doing too badly with; I’ve hit my recommended daily intake for the last week so I’m hoping that means this flare-up is easing off a bit. Finger crossed! ^-^

whatcanieat:

Sorry I haven’t update in a couple of days. I have been working hard this week and haven’t had much time to get online. I’ve been doing better but I think that’s more to do with what I’ve been eating and less to do with my medication. I’ve got my appointment at the hospital on Monday so I’m hoping they will help.

Days #9 & 10

whatcanieat:

The loperamide seems to be working somewhat but I’m still getting stomach cramps. I’m trying to stay away from overly seasoned foods but so far, I’m finding it difficult. Good thing I work next door to a bakery; they may do loads of things I can’t have but they also do potato and cheese pasties which I can. So happy! ^-^
