Made some Gluten-free raisin muffins with cream cheese. Recipe modified from Joy May’s Gluten Free Nosh recipe book.
There’s nothing like a blood test to kick-start your day!
That’s three down, three to go. Then it’s only every fortnight!

A healthy-ish omelette with slices of salami and ketchup. It’s day one of my gluten-free trial.
Last update for today
I’ve gradually slowed down today but I’m not abnormally tired this evening so I’m going to go out with my fiancée for a meal and then to the cinema.
I’m going to try a gluten free meal this evening and hope I don’t bloat. Whilst on the subject, my gluten free recipe book arrived today and I’m looking forward to making loads of stuff on Monday.
A quick update
The feroglobin seems to be working, I’m not as tired as I have been and I’m able to do more work. I’ve just had lunch so I’m hoping it’ll last throughout the afternoon. Fingers crossed I won’t need the extra energy tablets.
It’s 0730 on Saturday morning and I’m on my way to work. Just had a dose of Feroglobin which is meant to help with fatigue so I guess we’ll see how the morning goes. I’ve also got some dissolvable energy tablets in my bag just in case. I’m feeling quite tired still but I’m hoping that will change when I get to work. I’ve had my steroids and azathioprine for the day, only my mesalazine and Adcal-D3 left to take later. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
It’s Friday
Today has been a bit better; the pain has eased somewhat but I can feel it creeping back as I type. I’ve found the fatigue has increased though so, under advice from the local pharmacist, I’m going to try energy/vitamin tablets/liquids and see if they make any difference. I’m also going to try a gluten free diet for the next month in an attempt to manage the bloating and general ugh-ness I feel after lunch. I haven’t had sandwiches for the last couple of days and the bloat has decreased. Fingers crossed this all works out ok and the Azathioprine starts working too.
Week 3 of azathioprine
Today wasn’t much better than yesterday. I haven’t had as much stomach pain as yesterday but it’s starting to creep back. I haven’t had any bread today but I did have a couple of those cheese scones I made the other day which didn’t seem to bloat me too much. I’m having pasta for dinner tonight. Maybe not the best of ideas but it’ll fill me up.
I have made a mental note to talk to the pharmacist next to my work for help with vitimin tablets; I’m thinking it might be time I started taking them because my food intake has dropped this last week and I’m not sure I really want to be suffering from malnutrition as well.
My thoughts of an oncoming flare-up appear to have been true; I’ve had increasing pain in my left side, heading down towards my hip. I’ve tried painkillers but it hasn’t helped yet. I might have to try something stronger.
I’ve been bloating quite a bit too so bread is now a no-no until I can get my hands on some gluten-free stuff to see if that helps. I’m going to be under my daily calorie count for a while but it can’t be helped.
Doesn’t help how tired I’ve been today either; all I’ve wanted to do since lunch time is sleep but I work all day and don’t normally get home until gone 6pm so sleep was not something I could do this afternoon. I guess we’ll see how tomorrow goes. Fingers crossed things will improve.

I wish I could do this 🙈
I might have to try this when I’m feeling a bit better.
